"Buzzi's Easter Juniper" is a poignant photograph that showcases a One Seed Juniper nestled in the breathtaking Garden of the Gods. This location is named in honor of the late local photographer Rich Buzzelli, who tragically lost his life to a lightning strike on Pikes Peak's Devil's Playground in the 1990s. I had the privilege of meeting Rich shortly before his passing, and his interpretation of this composition has always resonated with me.
Over a decade later, on a very frigid Easter Morning, I was able to capture the essence of his work, sharing it as a tribute to his legacy. The photograph features the gnarled branches of the juniper, framed against the stunning red rock formations that define this iconic landscape. The soft light of dawn enhances the scene, inviting viewers to pause and reflect on the stories that unfold in nature.
As a Colorado native, I aim to tell stories through my photography, and this piece embodies that mission. It encourages a connection between the viewer and the natural world, making it a perfect addition to any space that seeks to inspire calm and appreciation for the beauty of the outdoors.
